The Neretva Delta extends from Metković to the port of Ploce. It lays approximately 80 Km away from Dubrovnik. Thr river Neretva flows through this delta, it provides many canals and vast swamps withwater. This region has over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, so the Neretva Delta is one of the sunniest areas on the Croatian coast.
Due to the mild climate already cultivated by the Greeks the area with citrus. Today, the Neretva Delta is widely renowned for the production of mandarins and kiwi fruit and various citrus fruits. Various types of vegetables can be harvested three times a year; for example from lateDecember to late January early potato. Therefore, people rightly say that it is the "Croatian California”!
